ABOUT LIBERICA INITIATIVE
Liberica Initiative is a movement spearheaded by Imagine Coffee Group, Inc. (the creators of Coffee Expo Manila & Cebu and Philippine Coffee Guide) in partnership with Verra Coffee, Coffee Lovers Philippines and Junior Chamber International – Alabang. We aim to join the growing initiatives and demand of Liberica Coffee in the Philippines.
Liberica, locally known as Kapeng Barako, is one of the most distinct coffee species in the world, making up less than 2% of global coffee production. Unlike Arabica and Robusta, it is known for its large beans, smoky aroma, bold flavor, and fruity undertones. A single sip of Liberica is distinct and gives a completely new experience!
The Philippines is one of the few countries where Liberica grows naturally and thrives, especially in Batangas, Cavite, and Quezon. This makes it not just any other coffee, but a heritage coffee unique to the Filipino identity.
